Drawing and ideation process in design education: A systematic literature review

This paper reports a systematic literature review focusing on design student drawing practices using PRISMA guidelines. The aimed at investigating the role of as an ideation method in education. We investigated papers within ten years, which were selected from five electronic databases. In total, 16 included our in-depth review. Our main findings include identification common themes and processes education: learning, cognition, process; existence two different types tasks employed education; commonality methods research involving drawing, such experiment, protocol analysis, case study. Two challenges for further are identified: 1) Given majority studies sample focused final-year students participants, it would be beneficial to see more lower-year whom less experienced, 2) It interesting whether transitioning back digitally supported analogue strengthen student’s fundamentals. Overall, provides comprehensive map areas that will useful research.
